Being worried and feeling anxious affects so many of us.

So many people are seeking help from me with worry and anxiety of late.  i thought I would write a piece on how homeopathy can help.

I’ve been listening to podcasts and reading articles on the subject as the definitions can get blurry.  Just how do you tell one from the other?

This article offers some distinctions to start us off with.  What do you think about about these markers?  In homeopathy the distinctions are clear simply because I focus on how the symptoms affect you.  It’s all part of the individualised service.  It doesn’t matter to me whether you think what you feel is over-the-top or ridiculous.  It is how you feel and that is all that matters.

 

Where do you feel your anxiety?

Some people feel anxiety in their chest – palpitations, a heaviness which doesn’t go away, breathlessness.

Others feel it in their digestive system – no surprise as the gut has its own nervous system (see my blog about the book, Gut).  We might have explosive diarrhoea to start each morning, or at regular intervals during the day.  Nausea can be ever present.  We might have constipation and feel bloated.  We may even vomit.

Some folk find their sleep is affected.  We can’t get off to sleep.  Or we wake in the middle of the night and can’t get back off.  Maybe we wake before the alarm.  Or all three.

The head can be another focus for anxiety.  Headaches – a dull ache at the back of the head, throbbing temples, one side or the other, across the forehead…

Sometimes the symptoms can get tangled up in each other.  The headache which comes on because of a lack of sleep.  The palpitations which wake us at night, the diarrohea which forces us out of bed in the morning….

So many responses.

What help does homeopathy offer?

Good question.

I will look at unpicking the root causes.  Ask you questions about when the anxiety started.  What form it takes.  Whether it is rooted in childhood, your teens, your job, your family, your health…

Homeopathy cannot always change the situation which is causing you to worry, but it can rebalance your responses.  It can support you through what you are struggling with.   The changes are sometimes subtle – they can creep up on you. I have had the experience myself where it is only when questioned by my homeopath that I realise that some symptoms have actually gone and not troubled me for a while.

With so many strings to its bow, homeopathy is able to help by offering support in a effective, gentle, long lasting way.
